REALIZING OPTIMUM CONTRIBUTES TO:

1 – Warm-Up – Relax, slow down, focus on the task

At the beginning of each meeting, the Integrator (facilitator) guides the individuals by asking a question about the task at hand. Thinking about the task and their team members brings the focus inward to what needs to be accomplished instead of other aspects of their jobs. Awareness of self and others increases as each participant express her/ his feelings, thoughts and expectations for the meeting. Warm-Up builds a collaborative team intention, fosters an environment of mutual trust and respect and encourages new connections among members and ideas. Using Warm-Up helps individuals use a fresh mind to tackle new and old challenges as part of a collaborative and accountable team instead of alone

2 -Accumulate – Collect and Share Information 

Gather everything you can think of to solve the task or accomplish the goal. Focus on options in a broad sense. Build as much data as possible so that creativity is encouraged. Begin establishing a common foundation. Collect your data as individuals and then as a group. Don’t hold back. Take as much time as you need. Gathering information at this stage expands possibilities for finding a permanent solution and saves time in the long run.

3 -Clarify – Express Ideas and Explore Actions  

Clarify starts to explore and understand the interrelatedness and interdependence of the information gathered. Patterns emerge. Probing questions are asked about the data to answer who what when where and how. This is done as well as discussing actions and staying open to the new ideas. This step opens opportunities to pause, step back, reflect while discussing action steps. Exploring possibilities encourages creative detachment which moves the focus away from “pride of ownership” orientation to the best solution possible. Both right and left brain goes to work. This may be the time to take a break to let the subconscious go to work if the team is stuck.

DELIVERABLES OF THE REALIZING OPTIMUM PROCESS INCLUDE:

4 -Optimize: Fine Tune Ideas and Action   

Optimize looks at all the data to recognize the grand pattern. What are your new insights, what are your AHAs. What are your questions, doubts and disagreements? Are there new options as well as more in- depth ways to test the data? What bubbled up from a time out? Explore all questions looking for the optimal solution. Vigor and commitment start to increase and develop as part of the group culture. Think about “Why Not?” Make changes where needed, look for both the maximum benefit and the optimal benefit. Here is where you make judgmental decisions and establish the cost-value relationships and priorities.

5 -Finalize – Build Commitment and Collaboration  

Finalize is the POA (Plan of Action) that addresses what, how, when and who and ensures that all contributors know what is to be done, by whom, how and by when. This gains commitment to support the decision taken and have follow through for the actions required. Final feelings are shared about what has taken place and what has been learned. The solution and support plan are accepted and confirmed. The team confirms that there is a solution and establishes support for the implementation. If the team does not Finalize a solution, the Integrator will take the members back to Accumulate to see if something was overlooked

Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization, “EBITDA,” is the true component to measure in valuing a business.  It is the cornerstone of any successful enterprise as it requires a specific focus on all levels of revenue and expense by everyone in the company.   Further, it provides a clear picture of the discretionary earnings that a business owner may expect to generate.

Identify the EBITDA multiplier used for the company’s specific industry and apply to determine the business valuation.
