At FarVision, we have over 70 years of combined experience in the world of quantifying a company’s profitability to build a sound base for valuation.

Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization, “EBITDA,” is the true component to measure in valuing a business.  It is the cornerstone of any successful enterprise as it requires a specific focus on all levels of revenue and expense by everyone in the company.   Further, it provides a clear picture of the discretionary earnings that a business owner may expect to generate.

Increased EBITDA is the ultimate valuation measuring stick. It is an irrefutable indicator of growth that companies may rely on to improve the organization, reward employees, or invest in new markets.

The value of any business enterprise and one that is uniformly accepted in the marketplace is based on a multiple of EBITDA.

THIS PROCESS IS IMPLEMENTED AS FOLLOWS:

Develop a “normalization” of the Income and Expenses reflected in the past 3 years of corporate tax returns.
Through a system of adjustments, determine the EBITDA of the business.
Confirm the accuracy of the EBITDA by comparing them to YTD internal Income and Expenses for the current fiscal year of the company.
Identify the EBITDA multiplier used for the company’s specific industry and apply to determine the business valuation.
